Teasing, taunting, and other forms of bullying cause young people serious emotional harm, with effects that can last a lifetime. Ignoring or excusing bullying only perpetuates the problem. Managing the Bull, a 6-week course written by Kenneth Nathan and Carol Musgrave, builds resilience in bullied youth. Ken’s stories, games, and role plays train adult professionals to run the program directly with youth.
Facilitator training is one day, 5-6 hours. A typical youth program runs two hours per week for six weeks.
(This is not a train-the-trainer model of instruction. Ken asks that all youth programs are led by a facilitator trained directly by him.)
Youth sessions, approximately 2 hours per week:
1: Recognize Bullying
2: Develop Strengths & Self-Esteem
3: Communicate Effectively
4: Address Cyber-Bullying
5: Build Support Networks
6: Use Personal Protection Plans
